The Prom: Ryan Murphy svilupperà il musical di Broadway in un film Netflix

Ryan Murphy ha annunciato che trasformerà il musical di Broadway The Prom in un film per Netflix

“Sono entusiasta di annunciare l’adattamento del musical di Broadway The Prom in un film per Netflix, e porterò i produttori @billdamaschke e @dori.berinstein, e il fantastico team creativo con me – i vincitoro del Tony Award Casey Nicholaw, Bob Martin, e i candidati al Tony Award @sklarbar73 e @Chadbeg” ha scritto Ryan Murphy in un post pubblicato su Instagram.

Lo spettacolo fu inaugurato al Longacre Theatre di New York lo scorso novembre, e fu presentato al mondo all’Alliance Theare ad Atlanta, Georgia, nel 2016. La piece segue le vicenda di un’adolescente dell’Indiana, che vuole portare la sua ragazza al ballo della scuola. ai Due viene proibito di partecipare, ma un gruppo di riunisce insieme per lottare contro l’ingiustizia.

The Prom è basato su un concept originale di Jack Viertel, con un libro di Chad Beguelin e Bob Martin. Matthew Sklar ha composto la musica, mentre Beguelin ha scritto i testi. Tra i precedenti credits di Murphy occorre menzionare America Horror Story, American Crime Story, Scream Queens, Glee, Nip/Tuck. Al momento è al lavoro su The Politician e Hollywood, così come sulla seconda stagione di Pose.

THE PROM is one of the most uplifting, heartfelt and special musicals I have ever seen on Broadway. It’s truly an original that celebrates the underdog and says in a loving spectacular way that LGBTQ rights are human rights. I feel a special connection to it because it’s set in Indiana, and that’s where I grew up, too.
