Jay and Silent Bob: iniziate ufficialmente le riprese del reboot

La produzione del reboot di Jay and Silent Bob è finalmente iniziata, proprio a un anno di distanza dall’infarto di Kevin Smith

Esattamente un anno fa, il regista Kevin Smith ha avuto un infarto quasi fatale. A distanza di un anno, le cose vanno decisamente meglio per Smith, tanto da iniziare l’agognata produzione del reboot di Jay and Silent Bob. Il regista e sceneggiatore ha postata su Instagram una foto per documentare l’occasione. Nella foto vediamo lui stesso insieme a Jason Mewes nei panni di Jay e Jason Lee nei panni di Brodie Bruce sul set del film.

“Un anno fa, oggi, sono quasi morto” ha scritto Smith. “Quindi oggi me la sto spassando con @jaymewes e Jason Lee nel primo giorno di riprese del reboot di @jayandsilentbob. Grazie a @saban_films e Universal per i finanziamenti per realizzare questo tanto atteso lavoro, @jordanmonsanto e @destrofilms per averlo reso possibile, @jenschwalback e @harleyquinnsmith per aver sostenuto le mie s******** ancora una volta, e #jasonmewes per essermi stato accanto in tutti questi anni, mentre io facevo le cose più difficili che potessi mai fare, sia cinematograficamente parlando che personalmente: semplicemente chiudi il becco. Non potevo pensare a scena migliore con la quale iniziare a girare, se non quella al negozio con Brodie Bruce“.

Smith ha continuato a spiegare che iniziare le riprese proprio il 25 febbraio era una cosa premeditata: “Gli Oscar erano in sottofondo durante il nostro primo giorno, e io non ho potuto far altro che sentirmi sollevato quando è andato in onda il montaggio dell’In Memoriam e io non ero tra i menzionati. Abbiamo scelto il 25 febbraio come data d’inizio riprese intenzionalmente, per festeggiare il fatto che io non sia diventato Silent Bob per sempre 365 giorni fa. Ma dopo un paio di ore felici trascorse a recitare coi miei amici sul set del mio quattordicesimo film, ho iniziato a pensare di essere effettivamente morto in quella sala operatoria dopotutto. Perché… cosa potrebbe essere più paradisiaco di tutto questo?“.

One year ago today, I almost died. So today, I’m living it up on with @jaymewes and Jason Lee on Day 1 of my new flick @jayandsilentbob Reboot! Thanks to @saban_films and Universal for the loot to make this epic, @jordanmonsanto and @destrofilms for making it happen, @jenschwalbach and @harleyquinnsmith for humoring my goofy bullshit one more time, and #jasonmewes for standing beside me all these years while I do the hardest thing I can personally ever do, either in film or in real life: simply shut the fuck up. I couldn’t think of a better scene with which to start the shoot than the return to the Mall with Brodie Bruce. The three of us gathered for a couple hours last night to run the lines and realized we first rehearsed together waaaaay back in the mid-90’s. It may be 24 years later and we may have 6 kids between us, but Jay, Lee and me partied like it was 1995, giggling while adding jokes and finding inflections. The Oscars were on in the background during our practice and I couldn’t help but feel relief when the “In Memoriam” montage ended and I wasn’t in it. We picked 2/25 as the Reboot start date *intentionally*, to celebrate the fact that I did not become Silent Bob forever 365 days ago. But after a blissful couple hours of making pretend with my friends on the set of my 14th film, I’m starting to think I *did* die in that operating room after all.
